Connecting your social accounts
Connecting your social accounts
Connections are managed from Dashboard → Social. Once an account is connected, your posts can be pushed to it.
Two ways to connect
| Method | Networks | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Permission screen | X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LINE, LinkedIn | Press Connect and approve on the network's screen |
| Paste a key | Telegram, Bluesky | Issue the values yourself and paste them in |
Connecting through a permission screen
Pressing Connect takes you to the network's own screen. That screen belongs to them, not to us. Check that the address bar shows their domain before entering your ID and password. Once you approve, you come back here and the account appears in the list.
If you end up back here part-way through, just press Connect again. Pressing it repeatedly does not create duplicates; the most recent connection replaces the previous one.
Instagram and Facebook
Instagram requires a business or creator account. With a personal account you can get as far as the permission screen, but posting will not work. Switch the account type in the Instagram app settings, then connect again.
Facebook posts to a Page, not to a personal timeline. You will be asked to choose a Page while connecting. Only Pages where you have admin rights appear in the list.
Pasting a key
Telegram
Telegram posts through a bot you create. Two values are needed.
| Field | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Bot Token | The string issued when you create a bot with @BotFather on Telegram |
| Chat ID | The channel ID (@channelname) or the numeric group ID you want to post to |
Add your bot as an administrator of the channel or group you are posting to. Without that, posting fails even when both values are correct.
Bluesky
Bluesky uses an app password, not your login password.
- In Bluesky, go to Settings → Privacy and Security → App Passwords and create one
- Paste your handle (
example.bsky.social) and the app password into the fields
Do not paste your login password. An app password can be revoked from Bluesky at any time.
When a connection stops working
For networks connected through a permission screen, the key can stop working if it expires or if the connection is revoked on their side. When a post fails, check the list first to see whether that network still shows as active, then press Connect again.
To remove a connection, press Disconnect in the list. Disconnecting does not remove anything already posted. Delete those on each network individually.
If something is not working, see When social sharing does not work.
Did this page help?
Your answer tells us which pages need rewriting.
- Which network you were connecting
- The message shown on screen, word for word
- Whether the account is personal or business
