Listing a skill
Listing a skill
Listings are created from Dashboard → Listings → New. How you write it changes the response substantially, so this starts with the four things worth filling in properly.
Say what you deliver, in one line
Write what the other person receives, not your job title.
| Title to avoid | Replace with |
|---|---|
| I am a web designer | One-page landing site, built in 5 days from your copy |
| Translation available | Japanese contracts translated into English, up to 3,000 characters |
| I can do anything | Excel workbooks migrated to Google Sheets |
Price, together with what the price covers
A number on its own gets read differently by different people. Always say how many revisions it covers and how much work is included.
30,000 JPY
- Copy to be supplied by you
- Up to 2 rounds of revisions
- Further rounds at 5,000 JPY each
Give your usual lead time, not your fastest
Quote your best case and you will be late almost every time. Give the number of days it takes at a normal pace, and unpublish the listing temporarily when you are busy.
Say what is not included
Set out where extra costs begin. Listings that skip this are the ones that lead to arguments later.
- Photography not included (I work with images you supply)
- Languages other than English not supported
- Deployment not included (delivery is the files themselves)
How a listing goes live
- 01Save as a draftSaving does not publish it. You can keep editing as much as you like.
- 02Submit for reviewListings appear publicly after the content has been checked.
- 03It goes liveYou can still edit afterwards. Some edits send it back through review.
If your listing is not showing
- The review has not finished yet
- The listing is still set to unpublished
- Your profile is empty, which means the review cannot assess it
When enquiries arrive
Enquiries from clients come through as messages. Do not exchange contact details and take the work elsewhere. Outside the escrow arrangement, we cannot help if payment does not happen.
For how you get paid, see Escrow and how a job progresses.
