Creating your account
Registration has three stages — email confirmation, phone confirmation, then your personal details. If you close the page partway through, you can pick up where you left off using the same email address.
The three stages
You can go back a step, but each stage must be completed before you can move forward.
- 01Confirm your email addressA six-digit code is sent to the address you enter.
- 02Confirm your phone numberA code arrives by SMS, or you confirm the number by placing a call yourself.
- 03Enter your personal detailsName, address and password.
Identity verification (KYC) comes after this. Finishing registration alone does not yet let you deposit, withdraw or send money.
1. Confirming your email
Enter your email address and a six-digit code will be sent to it.
The code expires after 10 minutes. Wait 60 seconds before requesting a new one.
If the code does not arrive
Check these in order.
| Check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Spam folder | Mark the message as not spam so future ones reach your inbox |
| Typo in the address | Start the registration screen again and re-enter it |
| Carrier email filtering | Allow our domain, or use an address such as Gmail |
| More than 10 minutes has passed | Request a new code |
Japanese mobile carrier addresses (docomo.ne.jp, ezweb.ne.jp, softbank.ne.jp) block messages from computers by default. If nothing works, registering with a different email address is the most reliable fix.
2. Confirming your phone number
Enter the country code and the number separately. For a Japanese mobile the country code is +81 and the number drops the leading zero (for example 90-1234-5678).
There are two ways to confirm. Choose either "Receive SMS" or "Verify by call" on screen.
By SMS
We send a six-digit code to the number you entered. Type it into the screen. The code expires after 10 minutes, and the resend button becomes available again after a short wait.
By placing a call
Use this if the SMS does not arrive, or if the number cannot receive text messages. We will never call you. Instead, you place the call yourself, to the number shown on screen.
Press "Call now" to dial straight from the screen. We only read the caller ID and then reject the call immediately, so the call does not connect. The screen shows "Waiting for your call" until we have confirmed the number, and moves on by itself once we have.
We cannot confirm the number if your caller ID is withheld, or if you call from a different phone. This line is used only for verification, so please note that we cannot take calls or enquiries on it.
Because the call is rejected straight away, it does not normally result in a charge. Charging and display rules vary between carriers and contracts, so please check with your provider if you are unsure.
If you enter a number in a country where SMS is unavailable, the SMS option is not shown and we will guide you through this method instead.
One phone number can only be linked to one account. If you have registered before, sign in instead of creating a new account. If this is unexpected, please contact support.
3. Entering your details
The name and address you enter here must match your identity document. If they do not match, your verification will be sent back.
| Field | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Name in Latin script | Required for everyone |
| Name in kanji and kana | Required for residents of Japan |
| Address | Country, postal code and address lines. Residents of Japan also enter a Japanese-script address |
| Phone number | The number confirmed in stage 2 |
| Password | At least 8 characters |
Enter your Latin-script name exactly as it appears on your passport or licence.
If you closed the page partway
Nothing you entered is lost. Open the registration screen again with the same email address and you will resume from the stage after the last one you completed. To discard everything and start over, add ?reset=1 to the end of the registration URL.
If you registered from a merchant page
If you started from a merchant's site, you are returned there once registration finishes, and the screens carry that merchant's logo and colours. The account itself is shared — you can sign in to any other merchant's service with the same credentials.
What happens next
Continue to identity verification. Deposits, withdrawals and transfers stay unavailable until it is complete.
