Adding money (buying SGP Points)
Depositing takes three steps — choose a method, enter an amount, pay. How long it takes and what you have to do differ a lot between methods.
Payments must come from you personally
We cannot accept deposits made in another person's name, including a family member's. Mismatched deposits may be returned after review, and any resulting fees are yours to bear.
Choosing a method
Which methods are available depends on the currency you choose and where you live. The list you can actually use is shown on the deposit screen. The four below are the main ones.
| Method | Time to credit | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer (dedicated account) | Once funds arrive | Larger amounts, lowest cost |
| Convenience store | Shortly after payment | You would rather not use a bank account |
| PayPal | Usually immediate | You need the balance right away |
| Card payment | Usually immediate | As above. 3D Secure may be required |
Fees and the minimum and maximum per transaction are set per method and appear as soon as you enter an amount. We deliberately do not print fixed figures here, because they would drift out of date.
The common steps
-
Open the deposit screen
Choose "Deposit" from the menu. This screen is unavailable until identity verification is complete — finish verification first.
-
Pick a currency, method and amount
Choosing a currency filters the methods. Entering an amount shows the fee and the final total. Check it before continuing.
-
Pay
You are taken to the method's own screen. For bank transfers and convenience stores, write down the account or payment number shown — retrieving it later is more work.
Bank transfer (dedicated account)
You are assigned your own transfer account and send money to it. You do not need to make a new request each time — the same account can be reused.
A dedicated account can only be issued after your identity verification is approved.
-
Request the account
Apply from "Dedicated transfer account" in the menu. The account number issued to you is not shared with other customers.
-
Transfer to it
From your bank's app or an ATM, enter the account number, branch and account holder name exactly as shown.
-
Wait for the funds to arrive
Once received, your balance updates automatically. This follows your bank's processing hours, so transfers at night, at weekends or on holidays may not be credited until the next business day.
Do not change the sender name. A transfer sent under a different name cannot be matched automatically and needs manual checking, which delays it considerably. The same applies to company names and former surnames.
Your bank's own transfer fee is separate from ours.
Convenience store
You can pay in cash at stores such as 7-Eleven, Lawson and FamilyMart. Automatic recurring payment is not possible, so each payment is a separate step.
-
Generate the payment details
Choose convenience store payment and confirm the amount to receive a payment number. Note it down or save the screen.
-
Pay in store
Enter the number at the in-store terminal (Loppi, Fami-Port and similar), then take the printed slip to the register. The exact steps vary by chain.
-
Keep the receipt
Do not discard the receipt until the money appears. It is needed if anything has to be traced.
Payment details expire. After the deadline the number no longer works and you need to generate a new one.
If you chose a currency other than yen, the in-store amount is converted to yen at our rate and shown when the payment details are issued.
PayPal
Available if you have a PayPal account. The balance is usually credited immediately.
-
Choose PayPal and enter an amount
The total including fees is displayed.
-
Sign in at PayPal and approve
You are taken to PayPal's own site. We never receive your PayPal password.
-
Wait until you are returned to our site
Do not close the window before you are redirected back. Closing early can leave the payment complete at PayPal but unfinished on our side.
Do not pay a second time. Check your deposit history first, and if there is no record, open a support ticket quoting the PayPal transaction ID.
Card payment
Credit and debit cards. Credited immediately in most cases.
Online card payments may require cardholder authentication (3D Secure). You enter a one-time password from your card issuer to complete the payment; abandoning it means the payment does not go through. See Card notifications and authentication.
If your deposit has not appeared
-
Check your deposit history
Look for the request under "Deposit history". If it says pending, we have it and are waiting for the funds.
-
Confirm the payment completed
Closing a payment screen partway can leave a request with no payment behind it. Check your bank statement, store receipt or PayPal history.
-
Check the name and amount match
For bank transfers, a mismatched sender name and a mismatched amount are the two main causes of delay. Even a one-unit difference prevents automatic matching.
-
Allow for banking hours
Bank transfers follow your bank's schedule and may not clear until the next business day.
-
Still missing?
Open a support ticket with the date and time, amount, method used, sending bank (or store payment number), and the reference from your deposit history. Those five details let us investigate much faster.
SGP Point expiry
SGP Points expire 180 days (under six months) from issuance
Expired points are lost and cannot be refunded. Avoid depositing large sums you do not plan to use within that window.
SGP Points are not a deposit and earn no interest.
